Eight One Eight is now a Studio/Gallery open to the public by appointment. Come hear our stories at the new location 2300 Laharpe Street, just outside of the French Quarter, in Esplanade Ridge, steps away from Pagoda Cafe, Church of Yoga, and Joan Mitchell Center. In addition to having iconic New Orleans cultural imagery and quirky international photographic works available, we've expanded our collection and opened our photography studio. Eight One Eight Contemporary Photography Gallery in New Orleans expresses in one physical space our desire to bring out images that would not appear on front pages, nor on the walls of traditional fine art galleries, but rather, trigger within us a deep experience of beauty and conflict inherent in the unique cultures that we have lived and loved in our travels and right here at home.
Our goal is to open dialogues, share stories, and connect communities through powerful imagery and a relaxed inviting setting.
These images speak of the universality of the human condition and the inter-connectivity of emotion. As a visitor who recently visited our space said, “These images are the story of Mankind, where every picture tells a story and together they tell every story.”
Our mission at Eight One Eight is to tap onto the collective consciousness offering a voice that shouts the essence of the new zeitgeist, allowing each captured instant to speak so that art can influence, while inspiring a strong counterpoint.
